St. Croix Premier rods.

Recommended Posts

Hi all. I just purchased a St. Croix ultra light 4'6" rod for about $45. I've always wanted to try St. Croix, and thought I'd try this. If I like it I'll move up to more expensive rods. Does anyone fish with the premier series? Is it worth the money?

you will like it, a light outfit like that is an absolute riot for panfish, cast small lures well and can handle 15 inch crappies no problem,i have two premier ultra light 6 ft and fish them almost all year ,small lures and have caught everything from gills to northerns up to 27 inches, made in Park Falls Wisconsin and all there stuff is good with a lifetime warranty,if you want first class get a legend elite, also they have tournament series to that is good to!better yet take a weekend and drive there and visit the showroom you can buy factory seconds for a huge discount only thing is no warranty applies.

You will enjoy it. The premier rods only have 5 yr warranties however. When you buy the higher end rods, not only are you getting better graphite; You're getting a better handle, better guides and a lifetime warranty. I have Avid AVS50ULF and love them for panfish. For my walleye rods I use the tournament legends for clients and I have Legend elites for my own use.

I had many and still have a few laying around that I use mostly for panfishing and bobber rods. Good rods. As stated you will feel the difference in quality the more expensive you go. If you like the Premier and want to step it up try some of the Limit Creek rods. The smoothie is a great little rod and I really like their leadcore rods!
