1996 Gran Prix

Hi,

Gran Prix, 3.1 eng., 200,000 miles. When starting from a stop, the engine will not accelerate above 10-15 mph. It will do this until you depress the accelerator about half way to the floor, then it takes off like a rocket and runs fine until you slow down or come to a stop and attempt to accelerate again. At times, as I'm traveling at highway speeds, it will start to miss/jerk. This problem is very intermittent. I can put over 200 miles on with no problem then the next day it will happen right away. Drove to the cities last summer (150 miles)and it seemed the further I went the worse the spitting/jerking got. Like I said this is a very intermittent issue. Anyone have issues like this or have any idea whats going on? Thanks.

First thing that came to mind for me was the MAF sensor as well. About 7 years ago we ran into a tun of them that would drive fine but would fall on there face when you hit the on ramps. W

When it does it, unplug the MAF sensor and see if it improves. If it does your on the right track.
