522c for icefishing?

HNTNBUX

Question

Where can I get the components to make my 522c usable for ice fishing and what would it cost? I am trying to figure out if it makes sense to do this or buy a new flasher for my daughter to use. Plus I could use the how.

You can buy the ice pack online. Do a search for "Lowrance Ice Pack" and you should find results. I use my 522 on the ice and I really like it. Personally, I prefer the color graph to the flasher mode on the 522 and I think I'd chose it over a vexilar or flasher having used both. The only problem that I have heard about is that there can be interference between a flasher and the 522 if fishing too closely but there are means of limiting the interference.

A 500 series chassis Lowrance units will also fit on a Vexilar Pro Pack Case and the Vexilar Ultra pack case.

As with any conversion, you would also need the ice Ducer from Lowrance to make it work well. Then add the $7.00 float and stop from Vexilar to make it truly portable.

This is cost effective on many fronts, as it will also serve you for fly in trips in the summer months as well.

I use the 510 C on the ice and it is the same as yours, without the GPS. Use the above tips to complete your package and you'll never want to go back to a flasher. Instant readings and very friendly to use. NOTHING better than seeing fish coming up off bottom with an LCD, gets me going every time!
