Ice Well

From doing some reading on here I've heard people say they use them. I saw them this fall and thought it was a great idea! I guess I'd just like to hear some people's feedback. The only things somewhat bad I've heard is that sometimes the fins get stuck in the mesh and to wash it out after a few washes or it starts to smell a bit. I like to clean live fish and I like keeping my fish alive in case the bite slows down or the school moves and I'm left with 2 crappies or sunnies. Then I can throw them right back!

I have the 8in Ice Well and use it quite a bit. Like Minnow said, you have to make sure you check on it periodically to make sure it is not getting frozen in. Bad news if it does as you will likely have a tear or two. As far as getting the fins stuck, yeah it does happen from time to time. You may want to think twice before putting any wide bodied fish (crappies) in it.

I use to use mine alot and seem to never use it anymore.

It did keep my fish alive while I was fishing but they froze on the way home.

I just place or dump into a 5 gallon bucket inside the truck, keeps them mostly thawed on the way home. Love my ice well, hate cleaning frozen. I have a 10" and use it in either 8" or 10" hole.
