MinnesotaMuskie
I have a Polaris 440 Sportsman. The charging system seems to be faulty. I had issue over deer hunting so replace battery. Same issue, the battery will not recharge.I have cleaned all connections near the battery...any suggestions.Any other connections to check??? Dave S
Are you sure it's not a 400/425/450 Sportsman? 2-stroke/4-stroke? What year? That will help in determining what machine we're talking about and what the issue might be.

BobT
With it running check the voltage across the battery terminals to be sure the charging system is actually putting out a voltage. It should be higher than 12vdc. NOTE: you may have to increase the idle speed to be sure as at a low idle it may not put out as much.Actually, I can see this at night with my lights on. At idle they are slightly dimmer and when I pick up the engine rpm they gain a little brightness. This tells me the charging system is putting out.
