Ice Out???

My mom drove to Battle Lake yesterday on I-94 and didn't see any ice left until Eagle Lake between Ashby and Battle. The bigger lakes around Battle have mostly opened up w/ a little floating around.

Tomorrow (Sat) I am heading to the cities from north of Duluth. I'll post what I see when I return on Sunday morning.

Just got back from Longville, North Long was completely ice free, there was a guy fishing from a boat on Sunday. Round was half ice covered, by Wednesday it should be ice free. Gull was completlely ice covered, my guess is that is aleast 7-10 days from ice out.
Hackensack area lakes are all completely ice covered and are alteast 7-10 days from ice out.

As of4/11/2004 - All the lakes south of Hinkley were ice free. Bear Lake near Barnum was ringed out and starting to turn black. One of my fishing buddies was at his cabin on West Bass near Cotton, MN north of Duluth. He reported that his lake was ringed and the water in his bay was opening up. Ice on the main lake was still white. Temps are forecast in the 50's to 60's up here, so I would say the ice in the Duluth area will be gone in the next 10 days which would be about normal.
