troling rod- what to buy

I am thinking of trying trolling crank baits in deep water (35 feet deep) with either lead core or bottom bouncers and am wondering what type of rod to buy. I am thinking I would need a long rod at least 8 feet as I will be using a long flouro carbon leader at least 6 or 8 feet long and would need the rod length to get the fish close to the boat. What action should I get ? Any thoughts out there ???

IF you are thinking about useing planer boards, and, or, dipsy divers I would defenatly go with a med.-heavy rod. I think a good bait cast reel, one that tells you how many ft. of line you have out.

Then go get the book called (precition trolling)
