Thanks to all who use this site.I think I learned more this year about fishing not just muskies but all fish from muskies all the way down to panfish. from the posts I put up and from all the post of everyone else. This site has made me a better fisher person. And for that I thank you all. If you are an ice fisher person maybe we will meet on the ice this winter somewhere in central mn. To all have a safe and enjoyable holiday season and keep your line wet. KF689

I agree !! The information here is GREAT!

I know it is early, but i'm already anxious for the Musky expo next year. Carol and i hope to make it up there, and if you guys have the swap meet again; to get in on that also! I can blame some of my problem on ESOX !! grin He has helped me upgrade my rods, reels, plus other equipement and sort of stay on a budget. cry RK's tips helped me build my own tackle bag. Plus all the info about/on different lures and how to use them. Thanks Guys!

Staying along the lines of " All the Help" grin

Why do you prefere certain lures over/compared, to others of the same type?

Exp. I know Esox says he always has a Wades Wobbler tied on. Is it cause they say it will back up when you stop it, or?? Compared to similar lures; why do you feel your choice is better than another brand or model?

Confidence bait Del in my case and every once in awhile it even catches a couple. Example, early Oct I followed a boat that was throwing rubber ( had been the hot baits) I was throwing a Wades, they saw 1 I saw 12 that day and boated one but that was one I raised on the wades and came back on with a different bait, 5-6 rounds of the 8 and she ate deep on the outside turn I had my 9' rod buried to the reel.

I don't use the wades as a catching lure but theres days it will move fish other baits don't so once we know where they are and what size we determine if we work said fish or move on.

I have seen days they wont follow anything but a 7" and others they want the 11"

So far the only lure i have "CONFIDENCE" in is the weagle! ( but only cause i have seen what it can do at the right time! grin)

This fall we kept trying this and that( from D- 10's,suicks, and what ever else we had! Shallow and deep looking for what worked and where the fish may be. Alex did turn a good fish on a 7" jake, but she wouldn't go ! We're just starting to learn!

Winters are long for me since i can't play outside with the cold, and may have to have shoulder surgery .

Gotta agree with the confidence factor. For me it's got something to do with familiarity with the lure and how it acts and works as well, I gotta think you're more likely to catch a fish on a bait you know how to work well and have faith in than one you don't know well. That faith and confidence puts you on your "A" game which improves your chances.

I've got a few "confidence" baits (one of them is a WTD topwater btw) but my go to is one particular double 10 that seems to outperform any other for some reason. Don't know if it's the color or the vibration that it sends out after being bent and mangled repeatedly but it seems to trigger strikes better than any of the other ones I've spent my money on. Trying to use this logic to convince myself I don't need to spend my money on god knows how many different colors of the same bait!

IMO..The bait that gets hit the most is the one that is in the water the most and that gives you the most confidence. Everyone has a go to bait and most are not the same and most all do good. so find yourself a well made bait in your favorite color. and and start throwing. This could be your next go to bait. I am just starting out at all this but I found 2 baits that work well for me 1 finds them and gets them to move and if they dont hit it the other one has a high % of hook ups just hard to throw all day.

Not what you would think. It is a very old single blade and very light. But I cant find anything like it as far as colors or blades and I have to play with the reel a little to get it out there but fish have to check it out when it goes by . I have thought about makeing my own baits just to see if i can improve on this one. (by makeing one a little more cast friendly )

    • By The way that didn't work either!! Screw it I'll just use the cellular.
    • It’s done automatically.  You might need an actual person to clear that log in stuff up.   Trash your laptop history if you haven’t tried that already.
    • 😂 yea pretty amazing how b o o b i e s gets flagged, but they can't respond or tell me why I  can't get logged in here on my laptop but I can on my cellular  😪
    • I grilled some brats yesterday, maybe next weekend will the next round...
    • You got word censored cuz you said        B o o b ies….. haha.   Yeah, no… grilling is on hiatus for a bit.
    • Chicken mine,  melded in Mccormick poultry seasoning for 24 hours.  Grill will get a break till the frigid temps go away!
    • we had some nice weather yesterday and this conundrum was driving me crazy  so I drove up to the house to take another look. I got a bunch of goodies via ups yesterday (cables,  winch ratchet parts, handles, leaf springs etc).   I wanted to make sure the new leaf springs I got fit. I got everything laid out and ready to go. Will be busy this weekend with kids stuff and too cold to fish anyway, but I will try to get back up there again next weekend and get it done. I don't think it will be bad once I get it lifted up.    For anyone in the google verse, the leaf springs are 4 leafs and measure 25 1/4" eye  to eye per Yetti. I didnt want to pay their markup so just got something else comparable rated for the same weight.   I am a first time wheel house owner, this is all new to me. My house didn't come with any handles for the rear cables? I was told this week by someone in the industry that cordless drills do not have enough brake to lower it slow enough and it can damage the cables and the ratchets in the winches.  I put on a handle last night and it is 100% better than using a drill, unfortatenly I found out the hard way lol and will only use the ICNutz to raise the house now.
    • I haven’t done any leaf springs for a long time and I can’t completely see the connections in your pics BUT I I’d be rounding up: PB Blaster, torch, 3 lb hammer, chisel, cut off tool, breaker bar, Jack stands or blocks.   This kind of stuff usually isn’t the easiest.   I would think you would be able to get at what you need by keeping the house up with Jack stands and getting the pressure off that suspension, then attack the hardware.  But again, I don’t feel like I can see everything going on there.
    • reviving an old thread due to running into the same issue with the same year of house. not expecting anything from yetti and I already have replacement parts ordered and on the way.   I am looking for some input or feedback on how to replace the leaf springs themselves.    If I jack the house up and remove the tire, is it possible to pivot the axel assembly low enough to get to the other end of the leaf spring and remove that one bolt?   Or do I have to remove the entire pivot arm to get to it? Then I also have to factor in brake wire as well then. What a mess   My house is currently an hour away from my home at a relatives, going to go back up and look it over again and try to figure out a game plan.           Above pic is with house lowered on ice, the other end of that leaf is what I need to get to.   above pic is side that middle bolt broke and bottom 2 leafs fell out here is other side that didnt break but you can see bottom half of leaf already did but atleast bolt is still in there here is hub assembly in my garage with house lowered and tires off when I put new tires on it a couple months ago. hopefully I can raise house high enough that it can drop down far enough and not snap brake cable there so I can get to that other end of the leaf spring.
