Shaggy,
I don't know where you fish. I fish Buffalo Bay on LOTW, and most people up there are on channel 6. It gets pretty busy sometimes, when that happens we usually just switch to another channel so we don't have to listen to peoples kids playing on the radio.

Shaggy...just so you know, you may need to be licensed to use it. I don't know what kind of penalties are incurred for a violation, though. grin.gif

I don't know anybody that has a license for their radio other than guys on the Great Lakes, the Mississippi or the ocean which are all Coast Guard navigable waters. Don't waste your money for inland waters, their not enforcing it from what I can see. Not even the guides have them.

You don't need one on inland waters, but if you are licensed now you can buy a new one when it runs out if you want to keep your call sign. I just got the papers in the mail last week and I am not going to pay to keep my call sign. If you are going to be talking to others in a foreign country such as Canada or Mexico you need to have one. Clear as mud right?
