With this snow and warm weather the ice is melting off the local lakes pretty darn quick. A number of the smaller lakes around here allready have patches of open water on them.

So I don't think I'm even going to trust walking on most Metro lakes at this point.

Time to get the reels re-spooled, tackle inventory, and drool at the Cabelas catalog some I think.....

You must live down south. The lakes up north are locked tight. We have at least till the first week of April to fish through a hole. Average ice out north of Duluth April 20 - 25. Although, Rainy River should open soon.

Last week there was a hatch on the upper Missy and rock bass were jumpin'. I'm gonna check out my favorite dams soon.

Yeah... I know the lakes up north generally de-ice a good 2-4 weeks later than us

This cold system is going to mess things up again.. but have no fear, going to be getting to 50 next week!

I too am in the metro and the lakes seem just fine to me. I would still be driving if I could get past the mess left at the access. 2 plus feet of solid ice yet...at least where I'm at.
