BoxMN
So if the ABS light is on, and there is no continuity when checking ohms to bearing, does this mean I pretty much need a whole bearing? And is it just that the ABS would not work, or is there bigger problem with it? Wondering if it is worth it ot fix or leave as is. I suppose I should fix it... Thanks! Jeremy airjer W
The ABS exciter and sensor are integrated into the wheel bearing/hub assembly. If there is no continuity than you are correct, you will need to replace the bearing/hub assembly. The good news is that wheel bearings are a pretty common failure on these vehicles especially the drivers front followed by the passenger front. Replaceing one of them now means you be one step ahead of replacing it when the bearing goes bad.It is a fairly straight forward job. The only thing you may not have is a 1/2" torque wrench and a 36 mm socket for the axle nut. Other than that a basic set of tools and an hour or so and you should have it done.My thought on ABS is if its a fairly easy and inexpensive fix than why not. If you get into a situation and the ABS is disabled you would have to wonder if it could have been avoided if the ABS where operational.
