Reinhard,

I was up by the Jim Readdy and Camp 26 roads this past weekend doing some grouse hunting. Lots of windfalls in the area. I would imagine you will have a little work to do. There was a fair amount of snow on the ground as of Sunday. More in the swamps than on the ridges. I'd imagine most will be gone by this weekend, unfortunately. Its possible there might be a little left on the north facing hills.

I also saw a nice buck following a doe in a logged area right at noon on Saturday! I can't wait! I haven't been able to get my head out of the gutter for the last two weeks. Tomorrow might be the longest workday of my life!

thanks for the reply. i have been hunting my area [public land] since the late 60's. in the past when we have had snow prior to the opener there was some left in the areas you have described . but this warmer weather you never know. i'm going up extra early friday to check on things and bring the chainsaw along for trees that fell over trails just in case and check the stands to make sure they are safe. good luck on your hunt.

Reinhard,

All the snow sounded like it was confined to the upper part of Duluth and maybe up the north shore. We had some flying farther north here but nothing stuck to the ground. I dont think we got hit with the real high winds like they did farther south either. Yet it was strong engough that I am sure a few trees went down. Best to bring a chainsaw for sure. Good luck!
