I'm trying to figure out the max powder load i can put in my wolf CVA Magnum...

So i read the manual, which says that "If the barrel says 'magnum'" and a few lines later it says that "If the serial code ends in 01, 02, 03" then it can shoot up to 150 grains of powder. Otherwise it is a max load of 100.

So, my barrel says 'Magnum', but the last two digits of my serial is 05....So I'm a little confused...

What do you guys think, I'd like the extra velocity and kinetic energy with more powder, but without concrete evidence that it is safe, i'll just use 100 grains.

Anyone help me out here?

Good advice Flipper,

I called CVA today, the ten minutes on hold wasn't that big of a deal...But i got a guy with the most southern accent!

Me, "I've got a Wolf CVA Magnum Muzzleloader, and i want to know if it is safe to shoot 150 grains of powder"

Customer Service, "I kan tel yer Rite Now dat one fity grains will knock you on your keister"

Me, "Well i'm abut 280# and that is the least of my concern"

CS, "I'm 250# and i'm tell'n yer it'll knock ya over"

Me, "So is it safe to shoot 150 grains?"

CS, "Yer aint gunna get much outta 150 grains, Shoot, you can shoot with 100 grains 200 yards".

Me, "So, is it safe to shoot 150 grains"

CS, "Yeah you can put 150 in dere"

ME, "OK, thats all i needed, Thanks, Bye"

Wow, Never had someone walk around a question so much, almost wanted to yell at this guy...I'm concerned if the barrel is going to blow up, and he's just saying "Use 100, or 150 or knock you on your butt"....

Heck of an accent though!!

grin
