hey guys, anyone have a wildgame ir 4.0 trailcam? any advise pro or con on these

cameras? i got a buddy selling two of them for 100.00 with 4 cards, seems like a good price, id be using them mostly for bear hunting, do they holdup to bear? meaning do they make a bear box for them? otherwise it looks like they strap to a tree by bungiecord, leaving them exposed to bears.

the reviews on the big C's web site are mixed at best, but for 100.00 bucks for 2 it may be worth the investment.

thanks for looking,

mike.

They take nice pictures, when they work. I had to send mine in to be replaced because it would not stay on. I could set it up at the tree, get the settings right, walk by the camera to test it, and come back a week later to find the camera off and the only picture it took was of me waving at it. It did this with internal batteries and external, in the field and at home. Very frustrating. I have no complaints about the customer service though. Hopefully my experience isn't the norm.

I have one. Batter life seems good. I had it on a test site for two weeks. Had several hundred photos (mix of day and night). Batter indicator was still showing full.

The IR distance didn't seem very far. 20 yards would be stretch. I was able to lighten those darker pics and see more detail. The poor IR could have been because of older batteries. I have seen other IR4 pics with better night images. I put a fresh set in before placing in at my hunting site, but have gotten any photos from that camera.

The trigger speed is so so with a fairly narrow detection range. Won't be a good choice across a trail, but point down one or on a bait site would be great.

I also put a piece of electrical tape over the activity/saving led. It blinks red when the cam detects movement and flashed green when saving an image. That attracted too much attention from deer.

I paid $70 shipped for mine brand new and another $10 for a 4 gig card.

I had bad luck with them but I've had a lot of people say they were good. They take AMAZING video! I got some amazing turkey videos. The IR is not the best but not a bad camera if your getting into it. Be very careful removing the batteries I had two break trying to get batteries out.

Ive got one. Like said before the ir range isnt that great for night pics. For some reason it take pics of the sunrise. Everyday for about 3 weeks it took about 60 pictures of the sunrise. I had mine connected to 2 6 volt batteries and it still read full sfter 3 weeks.
