New Feeder

After trimming a walnut branch, I thought this would make a good feeder to take images off of. I drilled two holes in the branch with a hole saw and filled it with peanuts. I then got in my blind to see who would find it first. I was not suprised!

Nice! Love those intense, warm and buttery background colors.

Here's a different way to look at it. If you mount a short branch to the bigger branch, one that extends backwards, quite a few birds will first perch on that branch facing the camera before dropping to the food. Capturing images of the bird on the small branch will eliminate any hand-of-man element. It's a good idea to make the stick natural, short (no longer than a foot or so), and of a single shaft. Try that and see how you like it. smile

Steve, that's what I have done. To the right of these images there is four branch's that are connected to the main branch and are getting used. My main objective of this was just to see who would use it first. There is plenty of Jays and Nuthatches using a feeder nearby but have'nt found the branch yet. The trouble I have is one feeder is in bright light and the other is in shade. I'm trying to adjust the camera by feel but I'm misssing some good shot's. Any good suggestions or is this something that just needs more work. Thanks for your response!

Mike
