Hello my names Pete and I'm a newbee here. I've really been enjoying all the great pics, stories, and info on here for a few day's now. My parents were boaters out of Hudson for 25 years so I spent every weekend fishing the slips for hours on end. It's unreal how many species of fish those docks hold. When I hit about 12 my Dad let me take the rubber raft to the S. side of the 94 bridge to the railroad bridge. It's funny how easy fishing is when your a kid, they always bite! The river has always been my favorite place to go fishing, hands down.

Anyway, my new girlfriend has ignited my fishing spark big time. Were headed out for a two day trip the 16th. This will be our 4th time out in 6 weeks smile When will the river go back to it's normal depth? I'm assuming it's at peak about now? Even better, is there someplace that keeps updated info on water depths? Were putting in north of Stillwater and working our way down to Prescott. We bought a map that covers this entire distance. Crank baits, lindys, and jigs with minnows are the plan. 11 days!

Any info for our trip would be soooo appreciated smile There's so many spots were excited to try! Well, hopefully we'll be able to post some pics and share some good stories. Happy fishing everyone!

This is a quote from SteveD:

"The St Croix crested at 685.3 feet which is about 10 feet above normal stable pool elevation of 675.5 feet. Forecast looks like a nice steady drop over the next week or so. The forecast is for 682.9 feet about 0100 on 10 October which will lift the No Wake restrictions. Maybe we can get some "normal" sturgeon fishing in before the season closes on 15 October. Right now you can't even fit a boat under the bridge which kind of locks you out of launching at the Boomsite DNR boat launch site upstream of Stillwater unless you want to wait for the bridge to lift on its normal schedule."

You can go to the MN DNR HSOforum for updates on river level, temp, etc.

I have to say the Croix is my favorite body of water also, I'm a bit partial as I have lived next to it all my life.
