Grand Rapids Area Grouse?

I am heading to Grand Rapids this weekend for a wedding and I am trying to scheme to bring my dog with to do some grouse hunting. If anyone has any advice on where to go on state land/logging trails we (my dog and I) would greatly appreciate it. I think this may be his last year in the field (hoping for a Brett Farve like retirement with him). If you want, PM me.

I've been seeing the most #'s in low land swampy areas. thicker the better of course. unless its windy, then they could be in the tall pines.

Lots of Blandin owned hunting land north of Warba. Take a look at that. It's kept me busy for 10 years, my dad busy for 40, and my grandpa for 60. Lots of land to cover!!!

Did pretty well out there this weekend, Lot of birds sitting on the trails, and found a lot of them out in the thick stuff. But I was surprized at how many Woodcock we seen out there. Didn't shoot a lot because the ones we seen were mainly after shooting hours on the way out of the land, but there were a lot of them.

goin up this weekend 45 minutes north of grand rapids. Going to hunt some private land i have never hunted before. should be interesting

I was out duck hunting opener in the afternoon. We were east of Deer River and flushed a number of them up. Saw a good number of birds for only walking for a couple hours.
