Have any of you tried spearing Marie or Louisa near annandale? The dnr site says some decent northern in there so just curious about it.

There is no puublic access on Louisa and there is a summer time carry down access on Marie. The other thing to remember is that there is river current in these lakes as they are part of the clearwater river. so the ice thickness will vary. I don't see how you could get a spear house out there without a public access.

The dnr HSOforum shows a public access. I didnt realize it was a carry in only. Thanks for the heads up.

The map I have shows a carry in canoe access by the dam up in the north east corner where the lake goes back into the river. the DNR may have put a regular access in now but I don't know for sure. My map comes out of the sportsmans connection map book - west metro edition copyright 2005 so things may have changed since 2005. the best would be to call the montrose area fishheries office of the DNR and ask them about a access since they manage these lakes.
