Ideal Conditions.

Was hoping to get up north one or two more times this year. I fish stocked lakes. What are ideal conditions this time of year. I will make it a day trip. I do not mind driving if i have a decent chance to catch fish. Do i want a sunny calm day, windy sunny, cloudy calm, cloudy windy...? What about temp in there. Cold sunny windy...?

From reading it sounds like trout are a lot like walleye. Like wind. Can be caught but need to be found on cold days. I also read they like to cruise when it gets a lil warmer, fall warm, not hot.

So would a parlty cloudy. Very light wind and a 45 morning to a 60 day temp be what i should be shooting for? If there is a weather man out there can get close and give me time in advance to be "sick."

if you got the time just go. high pressure is about the only downside. bring cloths for all conditions and especialy warm stuff. i would use nightcrawlers with air and a slip sinker [lindy rig]. small spoons and spinners. fall is a good time to go. i go 190 miles one way also for a day. when your there it is what it is. enjoy the day. good luck.

well if i was going to go up north[north being north of duluth] for trout i would be going to the finland isabella area and i would be fishing hogback, cliff, and divide, for rainbows and splake. north of the cities i would be going to grindstone lake near sandstone. of course using the baits i described above. good luck. forgot about goldeneye for brookies. they would have awesome colors right now and shallow. i have cought them in two feet of water this time of the year.
