Any idea what this this is? I was running some blinds tonight with my dogs and tripped on this thing it was in a open field in foot high grass, my guess is it was around a foot tall, base must have been 8 inches around and weighed between 2 and 3 pounds. By far the biggest mushroom i have ever seen.

Nice puffball. They are pretty common. They are edible. Not a lot of flavor and take up whatever flavor you add to them. Just make sure the insides have not started to yellow or turn brown. You can slice these with a lil seasoning salt and BBQ them for one thing to do.
