Signs of fall!

The birds are starting to move. Last week, I saw Northern Flickers all over the roadsides and a couple days ago I saw a small flock of Starlings fly over. Today, I had 2 Grackles in my crabapple tree. I'm just glad they didn't notice my feeders. I'm sure others will. This was the first Grackles I've seen since mid June. It was nice to be rid of them. I also saw more hawks today, while on the road, than I've seen for quite some time.

Anyone else seen birds grouping up or starting to migrate.

As is usual in the Northeastern part of the state bordering Lake Superior, I began observing migrating shorebirds in July and have to continued to see large influxes of migrating birds from the second to last week of August through the present time. Recently in Duluth, someone counted over 10,000 migrating cedar waxwings moving down the shore in one day!
