I have never fished there but am considering a Mid/late Sept trip. What can I expect? I would most likely fish for walleyes but anything that bites would be good. As I live in Colorado I would need lodging, any insight as to good resorts near good fall fishing areas. What kind of wind can I expectt.

Fall fishing can be really awesome on Mac! If you can rip a spoon, you can catch fish! As for a place to stay, not real sure who's good or not! And the wind, unless you fish from the USS Ronald Reagan, stay off if weather boys predict wind cause that lake can get UGLY in a hurry!
