BobT
Dell PC with Windows Vista Home PremiumI've been using the Backup & Restore feature on my PC for a while now. I have been backing up my files to a CD. When I configured my backup I was given a choice of potential locations and one of them was a D:\ partition. Is there any advantage to backing up to this drive location? Because the D:\ drive is located on the same physical drive as my C:\, would it not be just as vulnerable to a hard drive crash or virus attack? What is the purpose of the D:\ partition anyway? Dell named it RECOVERY and it seems to contain a system backup. Home Premium does not support complete system backups using Backup & Restore so I'm not sure of the purpose or advantage of this partition, especially after nearly four years of use. upnorth
Bob you don't want to bu to the recovery partition. That is there to store the needed files to reload/restore th pc to its original factory setting. CD, DVD, USB type of thing would be better.
