Manitoba Waterfowl Hunt (Oak Hammock)

We are heading up there in late September - early October and I can't seem to find one of things I need to know.

1. Can spinning wing duck decoys be used by non-residents?

Any help would be appreciated.

Any hunter can use robos in Manitoba; resident or non-resident! Are you hunting on your own or with a guide or outfitter?

On our own but leased land that is owned/leased by a guide service.

Talked to the outfitter on Tuesday night as he was out scouting for the resident opener on Wednesday morning. He said the duck numbers (locals) are ridiculous this year. They had a VERY wet spring and the duck numbers in the area are through the roof this year. On Wednesday morning 3 guys shot their limits of ducks in about an hour (8 birds limits). He also said he saw the first few flocks of snow geese on Tuesday. The snow geese nested well this spring (actually bad news) and the number of juvenille birds is really high (according to a friend of his that works for the Canada version of our DNR). Two and a half weeks until we leave! I can't wait.

I was just up in the Swan River area which is 350 miles NW of Winnipeg. Lots of Canadas, snows, blues and ducks in that area. Lots of Canadas and ducks in the South Interlake right now too.

Where are you going and who are you hunting with? I know lots of outfitters here especially the ones around Oak Hammock.

Yep, Ace Waterfowl - Craig and Val Henry. Seem like a great guy. I talked to him the other night while he was out scouting and it sounds like there is a boat load of birds again this year. Leaving one week from tomorrow!!!

Only 40,000? That number is going up daily right now. Snow geese are showing up also. They had a HUGE hatch of ducks this year. Should be fun.
