Boar --- this is an open opinion sight. we have all been rubbed the wrong way. Only canopy's thoughts, take it with a grain of salt. I have to admit that it didnt have to be handled the way it was and I think CANOPY is willing to bite his lip to see you come back. We all miss your thoughts, so get your but back on here. NO is not an option. Whether it is right or wrong info!! it is still your input and like I said, it is just your thoughts. ------57------. Boar, couple points to ponder.

I am just a lowly lurker here, but there is one primary thing that keeps me coming back to this site and that’s to read your posts. Your humor as shown in your posts are second to none, totally warped like mine & down right flippin hilarious!! Please, your like the resident “Larry the Cable Guy”. Known, loved and respected by many….

Secondly, your posts are sincere, genuine and honest.. You tell like you see it from your experiences and your heart. A trait rarely seen today, especially in the cyber-world where the truth tends to be distorted.. Anyone who has shared a campfire, a boat, a blind with you, knows I speak true. They also know that if your out with the Boar, that the Boar is far more concerned about ensuring that you are learning (if need be), having a good time and have success at whatever your trying to catch, take, see, shoot or eat instead of his pursuing own goals and objectives.

That my friend is one of the traits of a true Sportsman & Gentleman!!

My only point was that you didn't start alone. We fished and hunted together for many, many years. And we both helped each other learn tons of knew stuff. The good folks on here offered tons of helpful info as well. That's why I pointed you to this site way back when.

Your repeatedly stating that you started alone is just kind of a slap in the face, and it stings. But like Bog says above, forgive and forget. I'm happy as a clam. I just wish we could still be friends like before. I never said you should recognize me, just be honest that you didn't do it all alone.

That being said (and that's all I have to say about that):

There's a shower of acorns falling out there right now. One of the best bear hunters I've ever come across used to talk about following the bear to the acorns. He'd actually observed a kind of bear migration along the Mississippi river going north to areas of large oak forest when the trees began to drop their seeds.

If your sites go quiet, and nothing returns before the opener, if you have the opportunity, see if you can find large tracts of oak forest somewhere in the area. I have two old bear hunting buddies that use topo maps to find elevations that corresponded to known oak groves. They'd seek out these isolated groves, set in a stand, and do a bacon or honey burn. Both these guys had shot a number of big bear this way.

Not the best view but maybe 130? He had some trouble with those logs and was on the lookout for something. I have a bait crib where the logs are being thrown 6' to 10' away from the crib.

I am estimating live weight. Dressed weight would not be much different. Maybe 15 to 20 pounds.
