Skunk River Fishing Reports

The summer pattern of fishing continues. Channel Catfish - Good: Catfishing has been good early and late using chicken liver and stink baits. Fish near where Lambach and Railroad Lakes flow into the lake after a rain. Bluegill - Fair: The bigger bluegills are suspended out in the deeper water.

The river is still above flood stage but it is starting to drop and while the North Skunk is below flood stage, the South Skunk is still above flood stage at Oskaloosa. Look for that water to be coming down here in a day or two.

The river is still above flood stage but it is almost to back full level. But at least it continues to drop.

The river is at a nice level right now with plenty of water to use a boat. Channel Catfish - Good: Catfishing is good right now as these fish prepare for their winter sleep. Natural baits are what to use this time of the year.

The water level in the river is still high enough to allow easy boating. The water temperature is dropping into the low 50s and upper 40s. Most of the fish are migrating to their overwintering holes now. Channel Catfish - Fair: Anglers are still doing fairly well catching catfish. Try cut bait or stink bait. If you get lucky and find an overwintering site you could have several river miles worth of fish concentrated in one spot.
