machohorn
Well I pulled the trigger and picked up my SBE II, I went this way because it is in the left handed model, This better put more birds down, My 870 had a 30" barrel and I could not swing to the 2nd or 3rd bird. Now if I can just pick up a doz of Mutha's decoys I am sure the freezer would fill.

I was born and raised on my 870, and I have a Benelli and 9 times outta 10 times I just the 870.. Soon as I miss one bird with the Benelli I pull out the 870 and im dead on.... I have three 870's and I like the long barrels they seam to swing faster for me I have 2 in the 30 inch and one in 28 inch and usally have a extended choke in this one. for me its mind over matter cause I dont mind cause it dont matter Its not the gun that puts the birds down it the operator practice practice practice and you'll have no problem
machohorn
Oh I have shot the heck out of the 870, but I just could not get a good feel for it, This weekend I and going to bring out the BII and shoot a box or 2 up just to break it in, So far it seems to fit very nice. I agree with the practice practice method but it just never felt right and I have close to 40 years of hunting in. Now bring on the seasons!!! Red Cabin
I think you made a good upgrade! 12 years ago I switched from an 870 to a Benelli, it seemed like I gave myself an unfair advantage!
no bait nate
I switched from my pump shotguns to a Benelli SBE 5 years ago now, and will never go back. the technical advantages you get from the semi-auto are amazing and the inertia driven system can't be beat for speed and recoil reduction in my opinion. i have put more than a few thousand rounds through the SBE since i've owned it and it only gets better. it doesn't matter if your shooting the cheapest of trap loads or 3.5 thumpers at geese, they all cylce perfectly. gun runs silky smooth, even when gummed up with duckweed, mud, or frozen with sleet. not to mention the lightweight of the weapon is great for all day rooster hunts. I added the mercury compensator in the butt end of the weapon for incredible balance, and helps with extremely fast follow up shots. proof was in the pudding at the game fair when some friends and I did the pepsi challenge with the SBE and the pump guns. we shot the trap shoot/flurry (when there is 6-7 birds launched at the same time), and my friend and I who shoot SBE's could hit 2-3 clays in the time my other friend with the pump could get one clay, cycle another shell, then pull back on a new target. enough said... Great shotgun to have in your arsenal, and no reason to ever not shoot it, unless your trying to give your buddies or the birds and advantage on ya, which most of us don't need trying to get some ducks in MN.
