we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted August 9, 2010 we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted August 9, 2010 They are paving the roads in the park so the south boat ramp is closed. Please use the north ramp over by the beach. Fishing remains fairly good in the early mornings and late evenings. Channel Catfish - Good: Try the upper end of the lake during the last couple of hours of daylight. Chicken liver and stink baits are producing the most catfish. Bluegill - Good: Bluegill fishing remains good in the first few hours of the day as well as the last few. Small baits fished out in the trees at about 3 to 5 feet down are working the best. Largemouth Bass - Good: The late evening hours are producing some good bass fishing. Look for them to be in the shallow water hunting young bluegills. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted August 13, 2010 Author we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted August 13, 2010 The road paving project continues in the park. The weather isn't helping their progress.Boaters need to use the north ramp. The south ramp continues to be closed. Channel Catfish - Slow: With all the rains I would be fishing where the water enters the lake from the marsh and the ditches after a big rain. Bluegill - Slow: There haven't been very many boats out but you should be able to pick up a few bluegills suspended around the creek channel very early in the morning. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted September 17, 2010 Author we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted September 17, 2010 The road across the dam is closed as the county starts its part of the road paving project. Remember that this weekend is the opener of early duck season and the upper end of the lake is open to duck hunting so there will be some duck hunters at that end of the lake. Bluegill - Good: If you are fishing for crappies you will be catching some of the big bluegills out there with them. Crappie - Excellent: Early morning has been producing the crappies. Look out deep, 15 to 18 feet of water for some really nice crappies (10 to 12 inches).
we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted November 5, 2010 Author we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted November 5, 2010 Fishing has slowed some. Bluegill - Fair: The bluegills are out in 16 to 18 feet of water. Wax worms or fish worms are the best. Crappie - Fair: The big crappies remain in 16 to 18 feet of water. Minnows seem to be working the best. The contractor is still doing some shoulder work but anglers should be able to reach the lake with little delay. The north and south sides are open now. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted December 17, 2010 Author we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 17, 2010 Ice conditions are improving. Use caution around the area around the dam and up at the north end where geese had been keeping it open. No anglers had been out on the ice as of Wednesday. we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Joe Posted December 24, 2010 Author we are 'the leading edge' HSO Creators Share Posted December 24, 2010 Ice conditions are good. Once it froze over, the ice formed fast. Most areas have about 7 inches. Anglers started fishing last weekend. Bluegill - Good: Anglers are concentrated in the area around the campground boat ramp. Fishing has been the best in the early morning hours as usual.
