Humminbird797c2 and Lowrance x17 interference

Jarnotski

Question

I have a humminbird 797c2 and an x17 with both transducers mounted on the bow. When I mounted the hb below the x17 i got interference on the HB but both still sounded. On my new boat, the x17 was mounted above the hb. The hb works great but the x17 wont sound the depth. I now have them on opposite sides of the bow close to level with eachother and still experiencing the same problem, x17 won't sound. Is there a better configuration so that I can get both units working properly w/o interference. Thanks.

What kind of interference are you getting? Is it an electrical interference or a transducer interference? I believe both units work at 200Khz, so running both transducers so close to each other is going to cause problems. What happens is that each transducer picks up the others transducers pings and the PCU inside gets confused. You have the ability to turn one of the transducers off in the menu, try that and see if your interference goes away.

I was getting vertical lines through appearing on the hb screen. When I turned the x17 transducer off the interference went away. The hb sounds and marks fish just fine now, and I just use the x17 as a GPS w/chip. It ok the way it is, I was just hoping I could get both to work together.

You won't be able to get two transducers mounted so close to work together. It's just the way it is. It will help if they are on a different frequency but you will still experience some interference. In your case, you wan the HB color sonar anyways over the X17s black and white.
