Does anyone know of a good place 8 to 10 miles north of Hayward to put a canoe in? We have a place on Lake Hayward and were hoping to put in north of town and paddle back. Is it worth fishing that stretch of the river? Are there any obstructions to worry about? I appreciate any advise anybody has.

Thanks

Dan

I've never canoed that stretch but I know that plenty of people do and as far as I know, there's no obstructions. Between Hayward and Seeley there's several places where you can put in so you can pretty much choose the distance you want to go.

I do know that the DNR has planted trout in that stretch but I think that it's mainly bass that you'd be catching but yeah, it's worth fishing.

A group of us will be venturing the river for the 4th consecutive year. Have had luck finding fish, but not a lot of quality. Except for a few years ago when we did find decent crappies. Caught enough for a meal over the open fire flame! Any recent outings from anyone? Love camping and fishing that river...
