hoggs222
I have a windows 7 machine, that I stream movies through Tversity to my TV upstairs through the PS3. I also have a XP pc in the basement hooked up to the TV, also hooked up to the network. Any idea on the best programs to play from PC to TV for the downstairs pc? Best encoding, etc. I have VLC on this pc now, but it takes a minute or so to load up.
spearchucker
Windows Media Player should work. Have you tried PS3 Media Server yet? I have had better luck with it than TVersity?
CJH
I was able to stream everything from my old PC upstairs (Win-XP) to my PS3 in the basement no problem with Windows Media Player. Just got a new PC (Win-7) and haven't set it up yet. I read it was a nightmare if you tried to do it on Vista.I'd say give the WMP a try to your downstairs XP PC. spearchucker
The process with Vista is almost identical to Windows 7. I never had a problem setting this up in Vista. The PS3 Media Server software will transcode on the fly so if a video is in a format the PS3 or other DLNA device can't read, it will translate it as it is streamed. I can stream HD MKV files to my PS3 in the basement and networked SaMSUNG LCD upstairs with no problems.
