River-Runner
I have recently purchased a browning shotgun with the invector plus choke tubes. I have a full choke designated for steel and was wondering if anyone knew if I can shoot my bb goose loads through it without harming anything in the gun or blowing the pattern? BoxMN
You might want to check it out, as I bet it will blow it out. My bro and I have Browning and we ended up with the Light Modified choke shooting steel 3-4 (2 or bigger STEEL stinks) but it shoots hevi steel or hevi load or other more spendy non-toxic GREAT at 25-35 (still good at 40) yards. The modified shoots steel BB pretty good, and when we used modified we shoot more steel 2's. It really make s difference when you pattern them with different types and brands of loads, it opened our eyes, and now we spend a bit more on better ammo after doing more testing.Good luck! Gordie
I also shoot the mod choke thru my browning and have had great results with BBB and 4 Blackcloud I have also have shot just about every size and am very satisfied with the stock mod choke for it. SmilinBob
The only way to know what any choke will do is to go and pattern it. There are way too many variables to venture a guess what your gun will shoot best. BB goose loads will be safe to shoot,it's just a matter of seeing if your gun likes that combination of choke and load. Be prepared to try a number of combinations, powder loads, wad designs and differences in choke specs will all effect patterns. Choke is a relative term based off the internal diameter of the bore, every gun will have a little difference there and shoot accordingly. Trial and practice, I just can't stress that enough. Keep an open mind too, a lot of people will give an opinion based of what they heard from someone elses opinion, and how steel shot has ruined the world, its here to stay, learn to shoot it early, how it differs, and you will do fine. I'm kind of ranting now, but it boils down to patterning it and practicing with it.
