EVA grips

Recommended Posts

I am building a new crankbait trolling rod for my nephew.

My trolling rods have a cork handle and after some time, the cork sure starts to show the wear.

I have been thinking about using the EVA for the grip as it should withstand the rod holder better in regards to wearing.

I am also looking at putting a X wrap over the EVA handle.

What have others done so one does not run into the cork being beat up from the rod holders?

Tom,

EVA with the X-Grip would be a great choice for a trolling rod.

There is nothing to say you can’t put the X-Grip over cork. You could do this on your beat up rods know.

This is what I would do. Use wood hardener to firm up the cork then use a 2 part wood filler to fill in the bad spots, then sand. Next apply the X-Grip.

If you ever have an issue with the X-Grip sliding around on the handle you ca use spray adhesive on the handle and then quickly reapply the grip.

I hope this helps
