South Eagle Lake and South Shore

Recommended Posts

Wondered if anyone had fished the south side and western portion of Eagle (neaqr Dryden) (as opposed to Osbourne Bay). I've been to Osbourne and had good luck but would like to try the south side and stay at South Shore Lodge. Any opinions? We fish. We must have opinions!

MMS3rd

I was at South Shore with a friend about 5 years ago.

First, Gord and South shore were very good hosts. They had nice lodging and location and food etc...

Cant comment on the fishing too much - as we hit it right in the "transition" time and the fishing was tough.

We did find a few spots - but then we had a lot of company at those spots as well. Many other resort up there send there guests down.

Other than that its a nice place and you will like Gord if you go.

Beware of the last few miles in on a very narrow gravel road with not much room to turn around or pass anyone. I would recommend if you are bringing your own boat to have a 4wd.

Thanks. Fishing Osbourne and Nevin Bay was generally nice because there was not a lot of competition...only 1 resort in the area. We went from 2 days in the high 70's low 80s to 4 days of rain and 44 deg temps.

I am looking for a good lake with all the species...we just caught a lot of nice walleyes, lots of bass and some nice northerns at Roger Lake, but no muskie, and my son is hooked (pun intended) on them after getting a 45 incher at Eagle. We worked with Big North and it was a very nice operation.

It will sure be easier to get up there after I move back to MN next summer...this 15 hour drive is a drag. Thanks again.

I have a friend who stayed at South Shore in May and he loved it. He had nothing but good to say about it. Myself I have stayed at Temple Bay and they are a first class resort. In my opinion you can't beat Eagle Lake.
