flathead spawn time

I have began ( a couple weeks ago) to catch the beat up pre spawn flats.

I have now noticed that they must be spawning seing as i only catch smaller males.

Last year i quit specifically targeting flats after the spawn, but would pick them up i the end of july thru august while soaking cutbaits for channels.(which are going strong right now BTW).

After the spawn do you target the flats much the same as you did pre spawn, with bullys and suckers? in snaggy areas adjacent to a flat or hole with some cover?.

And how long does it take to get thru the spawn assuming it is in full swing this year around july 4th?

Blake are you sexing them after you catch them? DC31 posted detailed information a couple years back on a procedural sexing process using your index finger or something. I never bothered giving it a try. Unless they jetting eggs or milt out, I just wish them luck when released.

As to the answer of your question, I have just come to to conclusion no really knows and it seems to change every year.

shack my wife doesnt allow me to sex anything but her, but yes they were leaking there spawn/ milt.
