Bowfins near Owatonna

Hello to All,

I will be visiting the Owatonna area with my family later this week, traveling from Nebraska. My oldest son and I hope to catch a bowfin somewhere near Owatonna. We are limited to shore fishing. Any suggestions on lakes or rivers that contain Bowfin will be greatly appreciated.

Cannon River, about 15 miles north of owatonna has some big ones. Morristown dam has always been a good spot, but I only fish it early in the spring, so I don't know if it produces this time of year.

Actually, any fish caught would be fun, but we have very few bowfin here in Nebraska. Maybe a few in the Missouri River, but since they channelized that in the '30s and '40s, there isn't a lot of backwater places for them.
