antler point restrictions

Recommended Posts

Hi, i'm looking for some feedback/opinions on how the APR's implimented in Penn. deer season a couple years back is working or not working, and the general concensus of the hunters opinions of it. here in minnesota we have a deer hunting zone where this upcoming season APR's and no crosstagging of bucks is going to be a 3 year study to try to get the bucks into an older age class by trying to save some of the younger ones. it's a hot topic and about an even split, for and against. we would like to hear some honest opinions of how it's working in Pennsylvania from hunters who have gone through these regulation changes.thanks!

Nonteepical. I'm sure you will here different opinions depending on the person you talk to about antler restrictions. When I was younger, I wouldn't have agreed with it. Now, it doesn't bother me one bit to pass up smaller bucks waiting on a big buck. Some years, I end up not shooting a buck and I'm fine with that. Around my place, I have definitely noticed larger bucks. Over the past few years I have seen more big bucks than ever before in my 30 plus years of hunting. I'm all for the antler restrictions here but they need to limit the number of does being harvested.
