Lasermax or Crimson Trace for SIG229

Recommended Posts

I am considering a SIG229 and I am wondering which way to go as far as the lasersight solution?

Cost is not the issue - want to hear comments on performance and usability from people with experience.

Crimson Trace becomes part of the gun and have a nice rubber grip, they do like to eat batteries fast, but all lasers do. I have never had anyone unhappy with them once they are zeroed in. Looking at the Lasermax option for the Sig, you can go with the guiderod one, which I have heard nothing but unhappiness about from those who have tried them, it seems the laser gets fouled easily and tends to wander after time, or the rail mounted one, which seem to work well, but makes holstering hard, if not impossible, you also need to remember to turn it on, or mount a pressure switch on the grip, which is integrated into the Crimson Trace. The 229 is a nice gun.
