Minnkota US1 Question - PerchJerker Question Maybe???

PTocko

Question

Maybe perchjerker or Northlander can answer this question. I did a search on this but could not find anything. I have an original powerdrive, has the built in sonar which I believe Minnkota called US1. The unit I was running off of Minnekota - an Eagle Fishmark 480 - died and I am in the market for a new one. Unfortunately, it doesn't look like any of the newer lowrances (the Mark 5) are supported by US1. In general it doesn't look like much is supported by the US1 (come on, I know its old but my goodness, there are still a ton of them out there). Does anyone know if I can hook up a lowrance Mark 5 to US1 - if yes, p/n would be appreciated? If not, is there an adapter to transistion from US1 to US2 so I can "bridge" the two?? I believe the us2 is 5 wires and us1 is 3 - I know at least one of the wires is temp and maybe the other is for dual frequency - I'm just guessing. I really want to avoid mounting the transducer on the bottom of the moter if it can be avoided. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks and Good Luck. Paul

The Mark 5 is basically an old style D Style connection with a twist compression collar added...a bit of a hybrid of the two styles of Lowrance/Eagle connections.

I was able to plug in the D-6 pin push in connection of the Eagle to the Mark 5 but just not able to use the twist collar lock.

So...theoretically one can use the same D pin style power and ducer split MKR US-1 connection, but just not able to utilize the collar lock. Get my drift?

Ed - I get it. I looked closely at the picture (I ordered mine from C's so I don't have the unit yet) and it looked exactly as you say. I should be able to plug my same plug (assuming the pins line up the same) and be off to the races (or should I say "fishes" :D). I also noticed at the lowrance site that it said it was backward compatible with exsisting single D connections which the Fishmark series had. In short, I think I'm okay. Thanks for your help - Good Luck!! Paul
