Wind

I'd say a steady 35 mph+ or whatever wind knocks me over in the boat smile.gif I've been in the middle of lots of big lakes where the wind and waves won't allow me to walk inside the boat without practically falling over. That gets too dangerous at that point.

Wind doesn't usually stop me unless I can't launch, then it's a problem. That's in my 17' boat, wait til I get my 620DVS....someday.. wink.gif

I have a small (14.5') boat, so when it is windy, it tends to dictate where I go. I go to places where I can stay out of the wind...for example, if the wind is from the north, I find a lake with a north side access and fish the north side or around points, etc to stay out of it.

Yep. Generally speaking the weight of the boat dictates how well it does in the wind. Heavier fiberglass boats often can handle the wind better than single hull alumnium ones. With one person in 14-16' plain hull Aluminum boats, wind can be a big factor, even if the boat is built deeper and handles the waves pretty well. With one person in my little Lund for example... it becomes difficult to anchor in anything over 20mph winds, even with BOTH anchors down. It has a deep hull.. so since it's its wide, deep, and light-- it catches the wind like a sail. Using the trolling motor in anything over 15-20 is also impossible for me with one person; though getting a bow mount rather than a Transom mount and sitting in the front would likely solve that problem.
