1900_LE
Is there a difference between a 2-stroke tach and a 4-stroke tach?
marine_man
They are the same, but may require a pole setting change, which is done on the back of the tach.marine_man
Erin_Meyer
Its easy enough to figure out if you know what your idle speed is. On the tachs i worked with there was a dial on the back and we just turned that untill it read what the motor was specked out at.

Exactly.. that's the pole setting I was referring to... you'll need to verify both low idle and high idle.. you can find one pole setting that'll show idle right, but won't run to the right WOT RPM.marine_man
WARRIOR 2090
some two stroke tachs. only go to 6000 rpms some fourstrokes motors max rpms is 6500 so they don't work I believe fourstroke motors run on twelve pole setting on the tachs.
