Jim Uran
I've got a maxxum 54lb thrust, yes it's a little bit older but not too old. Anyway, the problem is it cuts out when I turn it to the left. No it's not auto pilot, it's cable steering. It runs fine when I turn it to the right or straight ahead, but as soon as I get left of straigh ahead it cuts out. The indication arrow still stays lit up and I ran through the wires on the foot pedal with a tester and nothinig lost power when the motor cut out.I'm thinking something may be pinched in the shaft or, heck I don't know. Anyone have any ideas, or what I should tear apart first, and how to go about it!!! Thanks
marine_man
That does sound pretty odd.. I guess I'd start with the head and see how the power is transmitted down the shaft when it's rotated and see if there's anything there...marine_man
Fisherman45
I had the same problem and I think it was the yellow wire in the head had a bad spot and was shorting out and it would make the motor cut out when turning to the left.
