Anyone know how to check the fluid level on a tilt and trim? My owners manuel for the evinrude/suzuki is quite bad.

I removed the allen bolt in the middle and nothing came out but it seems to me that it should be the fill hole like on the lower unit.

A little history as to why I am looking at this. I have burnt out two trim up switches in less than a year but after looking at it yesturday I'm starting to think that I may have a relay that is toasting the switches.

That would be far more likely the root cause of your problems than low trim fluid - the symptom for that would be poor lift performance / noisy operation
