Installing a permanent 5 gallon baitwell?

Is this possible? I have a 16ft Smokercraft with a decent sized livewell, but I would like to add a small baitwell elsewhere on my boat. Cabelas offers larger baitwells, but I don't really have the space. And I know I could go with a 5 gallon bucket and aqua bubbles, but I don't want to deal with that hassle.

Has anyone ever jimmy rigged something like this? I think it'd be nice to have something other than a minnow bucket on board. Thanks for all of your help.

I helped a buddy once that had a 16' boat with becnh seats... we cut a hole in a seat, put plastic liner (with a special boat type sealant, dont know what it was exactly), ran teh lines, put a $40.00 hinged door cover over seat... plumed for water, and viola.... it was actually alot of work, more than we were expecting... grin.gif

I set up my own boat. Installed the livewell and baitwell myself... not including the entire layout of the boat specificly designed to support these *goodies*.

Walleye GFA is right, it is alot of work, and you need the proper tools for your installation.

A very important thing NOT to overlook if you install a baitwell, is dont forget to put in drainage that will go to your existing livewell, or right out the side of the boat. You would be amazed how fast a good livewell pump will start filling the boat when you forget it running without ample drainage.
