Retaining wall question?

Mr. Twister

Recommended Posts

I have a steep slope in my backyard and am tossing around the idea of having a contractor build me a retaining wall. I am thinking something that is 30 feet long, 3 courses high, 4-5feet high per course and tapering down shorter from one end to the other.

Does anybody have any guess how much something like this would cost? I have no idea if I would be looking a $1000 or $30,000. The $30,000 is way out of my price range.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

very much a guess:

30' x 4' = 120 square feet

120 x 3 = 360

360 x $10 per square foot in materials = $3600 (could be low) You could call some retailers to price this.

+ labor to install, maybe $3000.

So my guess is $6500 to $10,000

Skid loader access to sight may make a big difference.

Your biggest variable is going to be what are you making the wall out of?

30' long, 15' high isn't a big project to someone that knows what they're doing.

UNLESS, as Jameson said, there's no access to get excavation equipment in. If it's labor intensive, then keep adding the zeros. laugh
