Lowrance Endura Safari

B.R.O.

Question

Anyone have one of these that can tell me more about them? I want to get something with good mapping software and user friendly, touch screen, etc. And something I can afford, dont have a couple grand for the H.D boat units

but I do plan on getting the new Lake master chip now that my home lake has 1 foot contours. I cant believe they still don't have the ability to run together yet and that's why I'm holding off for now...sucks, would have liked it for the opener. Anyone know when its going to get done?

LakeMaster and Navionics are both using microSD cards in 2010, which is what is needed for the Endura. The problem is that the Endura software will not read LM or Nav data yet. I keep hearing that it's coming soon from Lowrance .... been hearing that for about a year now ....

thanks rippin_eyes! I was asking the young guys that work the electronics counter at the st.cloud Gander and they claimed the new lakemaster chip was due in this week and would work with the Endura line..I had my doubts about it and you seem to have validated them...guess we have to keep waiting.

that is encouraging news as that is the same unit that has caught my eye for the features vs cost quotent. Obviously the sticking point has been the compatibility...with that (soon) no longer a concern, I might be purchacing this unit sooner rather than later as well! Any updates that you can give us would be greatly appreciated Rippin_eyes.

ok, the 1.4 software is out. no good on mine. no lake map data using the lakemaster maps for MN. unplugged and plugged the SD card a few times to make sure it was reading it properly and in the process broke the SD slot in my endura. it no longer snaps the SD card in place. Great stuff lowrance. I work in this business, and this is a joke. ironically I sell test equipment for software testing. Feel free to contact me if you need help!

Rippin-eyes,

Tried sending you a pm.......said that it was disabled.

I bought a 2010 Lakemaster chip for Lotw's/Rainy and a hand held H20 down in Bemidji, it would'nt display the lake map..............When I returned it I was told that the 2010 chips would not work in the discontinued H20's and that I'd have to buy a different hand held (Endura), well, the chip did'nt work in that one either............I just asked for my money back and said forget it!

FYI: Endura/LakeMaster users, check in at the LakeMaster web site.

A new Endura program is out for a free chip update for the NEW Endura line of Lowrance chips bought between Jan 1 2010 and the end of may. See site for details.

How can you tell if the chip is for endura? I have updated to the 1.4 and bought the chip this weekend but its not working. I'm guessing I have the wrong chip but I told the guy I had an endura out&back. Or is there something I could be doing wrong?

A correction, you will need the new 6.2 in the Endura's...6.1 will not work. See the info on the Update Exchange Program and see if it applies to you.

It's getting tough to keep up to this deal Eh?

Sorry if my previous post was misleading or lacking in complete info...my bad.

I just got back from GM and they didn't have the 6.2 version so I guess I have to contact Lakemaster and have them swap it out?

Not really pleased that the guy in the store told me it would work in my endura when I specifically asked him about it. They plugged it in to their endura out&back in the store and it wouldn't even load up.

Frustrating..Ya-U-Bet-Ch-Ya...but consider this once.

If you notice...they sent the new MN 6.1's out and they all say "Endure Comparable" on the package. So one would assume...ya...it's compatible...right?

Then they issued the new "Trade In Program" for the 6.2's...direct to LakeMaster.

So...it's not too hard to see how it can get confusing to the retailer staff too..is it not?

I would not be too eager to shoot the messenger on this deal guys, all things considered.

It will have the Micro chip inserted into the rear of the SD card that will fit the Endura line...they are a "Converter Chip"..so it should be there just tucked into the rear of the SD...pull on it and it will pop out. The Converter Chip makes it possible for you to use it in both SD and Micro SD applications.

But if it is not 6.2 and if you have not installed the Lowrance software update for the Endura yet...than it will not do you any good unless you swap it out for free at LakeMaster for the new 6.2 version.
