Just a reminder to stay current on your vaccinations. Rabies vaccines are given in stages.

A pup a co-worker owns was recently bitten by a skunk. This pup had not been given a rabies vaccination, just 8 & 10 week boosters, they were waiting to spay her and vaccinate at 6 months. 12 weeks is the minimum age for Rabies shots.

The skunk tested Rabies positive and the pup will have to be put down.

Department of Health stated this was one of many positive tests this spring.

This reminds me of a story that happen about a month or two ago at the humane society at Grand Forks. Someone brought in a dog they found by Theif River Falls. It ended up being positive for rabies and they had to put all the dogs in the compound down. I want to say it was over 30 dogs.
