bayliner39
I have a 1983 16ft Bayliner Capri with a 85 hp Force Motor. My trim will not stay tilted up. I raise the motor and it slowly slips down. Crystal Pierz Marine said it might be the pump. Any suggestions where I can take my boat to be repaired for a fair price? Should I buy the pump online and have someone else install it? If so where is the best place to purchase these older parts? Thanks so much for the help!
kerryd15
If you are some what mechanically inclined take it apart and clean it.I got lucky this spring with my new used boat. the motor was sagging over time. the check valves were dirty and there is a manual override plug on the side of mine. If yours has the plug and you have used it, check to see if it is still intact and the orings are in good shape. You should be able to get an expanded view page from a dealership to see what you are getting yourself into. upnorth
I agree it sounds more like a leaky system than a broken system. Probably just needs a good cleaning and a new set of O-Rings.
boatfixer
The First thing I'd do is check the manual release valve. It should be near the bottom on the starboard side. Make sur it is lightly seated. The o'rings on that plastic valve can fail. There is an "e" clip on the end of it you need to remove before you can unscrew it completly.Did you make sure its full of fluid? bayliner39
I have not checked the fluid and to be quite honest with you, I don't even know how to check the fluid. SO basically sounds like I need new o-rings? Is this something I could change on my own? Thanks for the quick response. I really appreciate it. bayliner39
Thanks the quick response.I'm not sure if I should be taking this thig apart..HaHa.Is it simple to change the O-rings?Are the O-rings and valves located in the trim/tilit motor?
