Sucker (for bait) harvesting

K guys im not asking for spots here just what to look for in my creeks. I have a good creek chub spot, a good bullhead spot (which produces very well all season), and a wicked shinner spot, but the seine turns up empty on suckers everytime. I am not sure what i should be looking for here wether its deeper runs in the creeks, deep bends, sand, mud, weeds (when they pop up) kind of at a loss. I mean i could throw out some of my traps and see but I just got a 15' seine and im diggin it right now. I know they get hard to keep alive in the bait tank come summer but i've found that my homemade chiller keeps em fiesty all summer. Thanks for any advice

I actually only take what im gonna use for a few trips on the cheek chubs until i see what my harvesting does to their population as i have only 2 spots so far that hold harvestable numbers of them. If i make minimal impact or find a few more spots i will let you know then.

I would look for the deeper outside bends and just cast towards the front (upstream) or right upstream from them. Also check the discharge side of any culverts the creek runs threw (under a road). Best way is slip sinker with a smaller hook & crawler. wink

I just took the areas I have found when getting my suckers and what I use. If you have kids you can load up on them pretty quickly.
