This One or That One??

Looking at my first gps/sonar purchase. Found the Humminbird 597ci and Humminbird 587ci. Just wondering what you guys think is a better purchase, and is one really a better buy then the other.

By the looks of it better resolution on the 597ci and a 100 bucks.

The big C store has the 597 for $500 right now, so for the $30 difference I would go with it.

Which card is preferred over the other. Navionics Hotmaps or Lakemaster?

The only difference in the 597 and 587 is the screen resolution. The 597 draws a better picture on the display due to the higher resolution, and that can really come into play with detailed map cards, bottom hugging fish, baitfish, etc.

jwmiller makes an excellent point, that the 500-series will not use the HB lakemaster card, which might be an issue. It really depends on the lakes you fish, LakeMaster and Nav cards both have their strong points.
